La Federación Interamericana Empresarial (FIE), or Federation of Interamerican Business Entrepreneurs, is a non-profit corporation whose charter was approved in a meeting of the General Assembly of Ecuador on August 15, 2002. It received the approval from the Regional Under Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Industry, Fisheries, and Competitiveness on June 10, 2004.
FIE has been formed in order to advance politics, economy and social development of the country through channels that operate in an atmosphere of freedom, efficiency, competitiveness and honesty. FIE seeks to engender greater development and modernization, while at the same time addressing the overall well-being and progress of the country.
FIE, while working very aggressively in Ecuador on the business, political and economic fronts, sees itself as the vanguard of trade and business connections for small, medium and large private sector companies both domestically as well as throughout the hemisphere. It strives to strengthen the flow of business contacts, information and trade flow North and South.
Very aware of the need for the small, medium and large companies throughout Latin America (known in Latin America as “PYMES”) FIE works to find more effective ways to generate profit, employment and more efficient production. In order to achieve this, FIE provides access to information on how to improve their businesses as well as making meaningful and constructive contacts in the region and with the USA.
- Contribute to the cultural development of PYMES.
- Assist in the development of micro and small businesses.
- Promoting private initiatives, free trade, and equal opportunity in business.
- Hold campaigns before the authorities to improve the legal environment in order to facilitate greater development of private sector business.
- Foster and strengthen relations between members of FIE and other international organizations in the hemisphere supporting private sector business interests
- Promote training and the dissemination of the latest innovations in business through conferences, forums, round-tables, workshops, among others.

- Work to influence public opinion in favor of sound business practices. This is achieved by holding round-tables and business meetings with countries in the region.
- Using the FIE state-of-the-art website in order to reach out to companies to communicate news on business developments and seek input in return.
- Identify opportunities for the PYMES (small, medium sized businesses) to participate and flourish in all sectors: social, economic, cultural, civic, public and private.
